Xeomin® was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July, 2011 for the temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, in adult patients. This approval was based on two clinical trials. Xeomin® has been used by more than 240,000 people worldwide.
Xeomin works in exactly the same way as Botox; it turns off the muscle that forms the wrinkle. By softening lines and wrinkles, by blocking the signals from the nerves to the muscles, the targeted muscle cannot contract.
